Create unforgettable premium marquee events & wedding experiences
It’s no secret that designing an unforgettable marquee event & wedding experience can be challenging. Designing a marquee event or wedding requires meticulous attention to detail, creativity, and a clear vision to ensure everything comes together seamlessly. Whether you’re an event planner or a soon-to-be bride or groom, this guide will provide you with essential tips and insights to design an unforgettable marquee event or wedding.
Choose Your Location
Marquees are a great addition to an existing venue or somewhere more special to you. When choosing a venue there a few things you could consider:
Location: Ensure the venue or location is accessible for your guests and has ample parking or. away to get there.
Size: There should be enough space for a marquee which should comfortably accommodate all your guests, with space for dining, dancing, and other activities.
Facilities: Check if the venue provides essential amenities such as restrooms, electricity, and kitchen facilities. If it doesn’t you may need to consider extra marquee space for catering or hiring additional facilities like restrooms.
Getting Quotes & Understanding the Costs
Marquee quotes can be overwhelming as every company offers different products and has different inclusions.
Silk Estate offers a full service meaning all our quotes include the marquee, lighting, tables, chairs, tableware, catering and beverage service items. To ensure you are getting an apples-to-apples quote make sure all quotes have the same or similar inclusions.
We use a quoting system called Marquee Tech, which helps visualise your quotes. This quoting system allows us to include images in your quote so you can see what each item is and how it fits into your design. We also can include a variety of products from a range of other suppliers in your quote, meaning you can customize your look from some of Canterbury’s leading event design, service and hire companies all in one place.
Designing a marquee event or wedding is a rewarding experience that allows you to showcase your creativity and style. By following this guide, you can create a premium and memorable event that you and your guests will cherish for years to come.
Start your journey with Silk Estate:
Define your vision
Every successful event starts with a vision. Three big questions we find help our clients find their vision are:
- What do you want your event or wedding day to look like?
- What atmosphere are you aiming for?
- What do you want your guests to remember after they leave?
To answer these questions you could consider these aspects to your design:
Theme: Choose a theme that reflects your brand or your personality. It could be vintage, modern, bohemian, or something entirely unique.
Colour Scheme: Select a colour palette that complements your theme, brand or venue.
Ambience: Decide on the mood you want to create – romantic, formal, relaxed or fun.
Features of your event: Consider what activities or entertainment to include to keep your guests engaged.
Marquee Style: Marquees come in a range of styles – traditional peg & pole, sailcloth marquees or contemporary structures are just a few examples. Pick a style that best aligns with your theme and vision.
Marquee Layout
A well-thought-out layout is essential for a smooth flow of events. We always provide a complementary floor plan with all marquees. Our team have years of experience in the events and wedding industries and can assist when planning out your floor plan. Some things to consider when planning a marquee floor plan are:
Entrance area(s): Ensure your entrance to the marquee is spacious and inviting for your guests. As this space is the first thing a guest will see the entrance sets the tone for your event or wedding.
Seating arrangements: Decide what seating and table arrangements you want. Some table arrangements allow more capacity for people than others. Popular table arrangements include: cocktail, long tables, round tables
Interactive Areas: Ensure there is enough space for your activities and interactive areas at your event or wedding is crucial. Some of these areas to think about include: bar, dance floor & stage, photo booth or photo wall, tea & coffee stations, catering tables/ display
Safety Considerations
We pride ourselves on safety and compliance. We file and complete all required fire and emergency planning and any council consents. Included in every marquee is a safety package which includes fire extinguishers and alarms.
Silk Estate is proud to have our APEX accreditation. APEX is a training and accreditation scheme designed for companies operating in the marquee industry. The APEX scheme was developed in 2014 to certify marquee companies and their employees. It is designed to provide a level of consistency across the industry and promote quality assurance. Our marquee riggers complete the fundamental marquee rigging course, which establishes the best practices for our team.
